Privacy policy

This page explains what happens to your data when you use AI Council at trycouncilai.com and app.trycouncilai.com. We try to collect as little as possible.

What we collect

• Your questions and the council's answers. We process them to run the council and show you the result and your history.
• A private session cookie. A random, HttpOnly cookie keeps your history separate from other visitors. It lasts up to 90 days. It does not identify you by name.
• Email you send us. If you write to ajit@trycouncilai.com we keep the email so we can reply.
• Basic operating logs. For each AI call we record the provider, the model, the outcome (success or error) and how long it took. These logs do not include your question, the answer or any credentials.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not run advertising or tracking scripts on this site.
• We do not ask you for passwords or payment details on the landing page.
• Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so Google can see your IP address when a page loads.

Who processes your questions

To get answers, we send your question to third-party AI providers. Depending on the council in use, these may include Google (Vertex AI / Gemini), Microsoft Azure AI Foundry (which hosts models from companies such as xAI, DeepSeek and Moonshot AI) and Cloudflare Workers AI (open models such as OpenAI gpt-oss). Cloudflare AI Gateway may log request metadata such as the model used and timing. Those providers process your text under their own terms and privacy policies. Do not enter anything you are not comfortable sending to them, such as passwords, government ID numbers or medical records.

Voice input (optional)

If voice input is switched on, you can record up to 60 seconds of speech to dictate your question. The recording is played back to you first and is sent only if you choose to send it. We send the audio to Deepgram, Inc. to turn it into text, and we ask Deepgram not to use it to improve its models. We do not save the audio, and it is not written to our logs. The text appears in the question box for you to edit and is used only if you submit it. Deepgram processes the audio under its own terms and privacy policy. If you do not want this, type your question instead.

Our hosting and storage run on Vercel and Google Cloud, which may process data in regions outside India.

Your history and sharing

Your history is private to your browser session. A result is shared only if you choose to create a share link, and anyone with that link can read it.

How long we keep it

Session history is kept for the life of the session cookie unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to answer you.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent, by emailing ajit@trycouncilai.com from the address you used. We will reply within a reasonable time. You can also clear your browser cookies to end your session.

Children

AI Council is not meant for children under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. This page describes how we handle data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable Indian law, but it is not legal advice.
